0.2.0 - Sharing

The new release comes with a few new features, namely the ability to share phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses. I should note that with this ease of use we should not forget that this data is to be used for church purposes only. This feature was suggested by a user, but I will use it frequently, as a frequently get emails/texts from bishopric members asking for contact info.

So, the power is now yours, use it wisely. And enjoy!

  1. I have a motorola cliq and I would love to use this app. I have downloaded it and the csv file. When I open the app and click to import csv file nothing happens.

  2. Any chance that the ability to sync with lds.org stake and ward websites (as opposed to just having a csv file) will come out at some time?

  3. Sherri,

Email me your file and maybe I can tell you what is wrong. mywardroster [at] gmail.com

Jared and Sarah, yes, that's a great idea. This program was designed to import data from the ward computer and using the csv file is just a natural way to do that. But, the majority of the people using this app seem to be getting the data from the ward website, so it seems natural to pull the data directly from there. I definitely intend to head that route. I don't know how soon it will be for a couple of reasons. 1. there are other updates that I want to do first and 2. the ward websites are undergoing a major overhaul and once they roll that out, I'd have to re-write everything. So, if they don't roll out in a few months, I may forge ahead anyway, but I'm hoping the new ward websites will be done by then.

  4. One way to import the stake data is this:
Download each ward in your stake. Tedious but do it.

Edit the first line to remove the descriptions of each field of all files EXCEPT 1

rename your csv files to something short. You'll see why in a second.

from a DOS prompt type COPY A.CSV+B.CSV+C.CSV+D.CSV DIRECTORY.CSV

A.CSV is the ONLY file that has not had the description line removed.

Now copy DIRECTORY.CSV to your flash drive as per the instructions and import as usual.

What I do is store each ward as their own CSV on my flash drive as well as the stake one I created above. Then I can either copy a ward csv file to directory.CSV or copy the stake.csv to directory.csv and reimport. This allows me to use a single ward or the entire stake.

This is crude but it works.

  5. Sherri,

My guess is that you did not rename the file correctly to DIRECTORY.CSV

  8. I second Jared & Sarah's request for the feature to sync with the ward and stake websites. Anyone with a stake calling will find this useful

  9. Easier solution for Droid.

No mounting or removing SD card required.

First using a file manager on the Droid itself, create a folder called wardroster on the sdcard.

Next download the csv onto a pc.

Then using HTCSync copy the file as is to the newly created directory on the Droid. DO NOT make any changes to the csv file, such as renaming.

Then from the Droid using a filemanager rename the file to directory.csv.

    Then install program.

    Import should them work.

    Neat stuff
