0.1.1 - a few bug fixes

This new release should fix problems that a few of you have been experiencing, including the following:

- Last names that include spaces did not import correctly
- Family member list did not always sort properly
- Various failures when importing Directory.csv

Also, props to those who spoke up about the issues they were experiencing. For any out there that are experiencing bugs, please let me know. I can't fix them if I don't know about them. ;-) Thanks!

  1. Solved the import issue I was having. Thanks!

  2. This last update makes it possible to bring in all rows, even on a file as large as a stake membership.csv. Add a field for the unit name, and this also makes a solid beginning for a great stake application. Thanks.

  3. My import still stops on the same row it stopped on before from my Membership.csv file. I suspect it is from some kind of data issue that is not forseen, though I can't see what the problem is from looking at the data.

The Directory.csv import works now, even with the Jr, Sr, III at the end of the names. Before it would import if I massaged those out, but the first three people in a family would be hidden from view on the Overview page. That all seems to be working fine now.

  4. Sorry for the delay. I had to deal with a weak battery......the file is in the WardRoster folder on the SD card - with a capital D: When I dismount the SD card from the pc, and push 'import from csv,' the icon changes colors for a second and then the screen just stays black. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

    Thanks,

  7. Thanks for the update. Fixed some of the bugs I was seeing as well.

One additional item I noticed was that on the contacts tab for a family, the link does not include the first part of the address, only the last part.

Still looking forward to password protection.

    Thanks for the work.

    Craig.

  8. @BDH you have to pull down your notification bar and click the button that says "USB Connected Select to copy files to/from your computer" and then it will mount it.

And to the author of the program, thanks for a great app! Worked like a charm for me after I renamed the file "Directory.cvs"

  10. I am having the same problem as Bob above. I placed the renamed "Directory.csv" file in the WardRoster directory on sd card. I open the application, click "Menu" and "Import from CSV", then the "Import from CSV" button turns orange for a few seconds, and nothing else happens. The screen stays blank, even after ten minutes. Any suggestions?

  11. Cary,

I don't know what to tell you about your Membership.csv file, though I'd love to solve it. Do you notice anything different around the point it stops importing?

    BDH,

Was Josh's comment able to help you?

    Scott,

Either it's not seeing your file or there is something wrong with the data. Try the process with your usb cable unplugged. This will ensure that your SD card is not mounted. When the SD card is mounted, the phone can't access it. I've also found that sometimes it is helpful to delete the file from the SD card and try the copy again.

  12. Mr. Boy,

Where are you pulling your stake file from? Can you send me the list of columns it uses (the top row).

  13. I'm a stake clerk, so I am pulling the file directly from MLS. The top row has too many columns to list them all in this post, but I could email you a spreadsheet with just that top row.

  14. Alan,

I can send you my Membership file for you to try to import it.

  15. My email is mywardroster at gmail.com

  16. ALAN!

SUCCESS!!! I was about to give up, but then decided to try switching browsers. I have been using Google Chrome, which doesn’t bog the computer down as much as others, so I went to IE8, downloaded, changed names and sent directly to Ward Roster. Took about 45 seconds to load and all looks great. I wouldn't have thought the browser would make a difference, but obviously it did, because I didn't change the manner of entry at all. Hope this may help some others as well. By the way, the app looks great. Thanks again,

    Bob

  17. Based on Bob's experience, I tried downloading the membership .csv file with IE8, and just like for Bob, everything worked fine. I am not quite sure, but I originally downloaded the file with either Chrome or Firefox, almost certainly Firefox, but I don't remember. So Firefox may introduce the same issue as you found with Chrome.

BTW, thanks for the program. It is very helpful.

  18. I have been using the import of Directory.csv downloaded from the unit website.

I notice that email addresses are not supported in the Ward Roster app, even though they appear in the CSV fields name1, name2 etc. between angle brackets following the first name.

  19. I am experiencing problems with children that have different last names than head of household. In the ward directory children with different last names are listed by their last name but too see contact info it says see the head of household. So if you don't know the child's head of household you can't find them in Ward Roster
